The workshop

Building in the workshop

Tighten bolts, fix the chain, patch a tyre, get the light working again. Not a talk about bikes but a real bike – with real tools, chosen for kids and with someone to show them how.

Join the waiting list

Free and non-binding. No payment.

Concept visualisation: an adult shows children how to repair a bike on a work stand.
Concept visualisation – not a photo of a completed, open venue. Created with AI.

Planned principles · Show a little. Do a lot.

“Why does the chain keep coming off?”

Through your child’s eyes

“How do I build a rear light that switches itself on?”

What your child does here: Tighten bolts, fix the chain, patch a tyre, get the light working again.

The real thing at the end:

A wheel that rolls again.

Through your eyes

What’s behind it

Not a talk about bikes but a real bike – with real tools, chosen for kids and with someone to show them how.

Along the way, your child practises:

  • Skilful hands
  • Sticking with it
  • Understanding tech

Instead of just listening: Whether the chain holds shows straight away. If it doesn’t, your child has another go.

How it might look at different ages

Examples for orientation – not age limits. Who for? Age limits are still to be decided.

  1. Ages 3–5

Hammers, screws and glues together a wooden car of their own with kids’ tools.

Along the way, your child practises: Skilful hands, patience, seeing something through

  2. Ages 6–8

Builds a birdhouse from real wood – measuring, sawing and driving in screws.

Along the way, your child practises: Measuring, planning, handling tools

  3. Ages 9–12

Fixes a bike: chain, brakes, light – until it rides again.

Along the way, your child practises: Finding faults, seeing how parts connect, sticking with it

Try it

Bike check: what’s broken?

Tap a broken part and work out what fixes it.

This is what the experiment looks like. You can try it with JavaScript – and later on, for real, with us.

Drawing: a kids’ bike – you can clearly see the tyre, the chain and the light.

Here your child works on real bikes – with real tools.

Questions and answers

How safe are real tools?
Real tools need clear rules. Our safety concept is in progress: which tools from what age, who leads, what protective gear. We’ll publish it before anyone picks up a screwdriver for the first time.
Who leads the classes?
We’re settling that right now. We’ll introduce course leaders and their qualifications once they’re confirmed – no names before that.
What ages is TRALLAFITTY for?
Age limits for the individual activities are still being decided. The optional age band on the waiting list helps us plan – it isn’t an admission promise.
