The code studio

Coding in the code studio

Program a robot car, build a little game of their own, try out AI – and question it. Not just using tech but understanding and shaping it. We don’t promise a screen-free place.

Concept visualisation: children program a small robot car on tablets.
Concept visualisation – not a photo of a completed, open venue. Created with AI.

“Will it take the corner now?”

Through your child’s eyes

“How does an AI actually decide?”

What your child does here: Program a robot car, build a little game of their own, try out AI – and question it.

The real thing at the end:

A robot that does exactly what your child programmed.

Through your eyes

What’s behind it

Not just using tech but understanding and shaping it. We don’t promise a screen-free place.

Along the way, your child practises:

  • Understanding tech
  • Their own ideas
  • Asking questions

Instead of just listening: If the robot turns the wrong way, your child hunts down the bug in the code.

  • Membership: not yet decided
  • Ages: to be decided

How it might look at different ages

Examples for orientation – not age limits. Who for? Age limits are still to be decided.

  1. Ages 3–5

Steers a little floor robot through a maze with arrow cards.

Along the way, your child practises: Thinking in sequences, directions

  2. Ages 6–8

Programs a robot car with code blocks until it takes the corner.

Along the way, your child practises: Thinking step by step, debugging

  3. Ages 9–12

Builds a small game and asks: how does an AI actually decide?

Along the way, your child practises: Creating, not just using; asking critical questions

    What your child does

    • Program a robot car and send it round a course.
    • Build a little game of their own.
    • Find out what AI can do – and where it gets things wrong.
    • Open up gadgets and see what’s inside.

Try it

Get the robot to the ball.

Line up arrow cards and press “Go!”.

This is what the experiment looks like. You can try it with JavaScript – and later on, for real, with us.

A 4 × 4 board: the robot starts bottom left, the ball is top right. The path goes one square up, two right, two up and one right.

Your program: Up, Right, Right, Up, Up, Right

In the code studio your child programs a real robot car.

Questions and answers

Who leads the classes?
We’re settling that right now. We’ll introduce course leaders and their qualifications once they’re confirmed – no names before that.
What ages is TRALLAFITTY for?
Age limits for the individual activities are still being decided. The optional age band on the waiting list helps us plan – it isn’t an admission promise.
Another appointment? Our child’s schedule is full already.
Whether there will be fixed classes, and how often, is still to be decided. Free time to run around is part of the concept too – not every afternoon has to be a class.
